OPI Partners with Platinum Recording Artist Nicki Minaj to Launch Limited Edition Lacquers

 

 

 

                OPI announces the launch of six new limited edition shades inspired by hip hop sensation Nicki Minaj, including a purple Shatter!  Inspired by Minaj’s unique style, love of bright colors, and her debut album Pink Friday, the Nicki Minaj by OPI promotion will feature an array of bold hues, from neon lime green to pink.

Last night I attended the P.Luca/Barami event @ Juliette superclub.

It was a “fashion night out” for Fashionista’s & Fashionisto’s.

This was the 2011 fall preview event, filled with Fur vests, chiffon peasant blouses, leather leggings, and chunky neck wear!

Celeb designers, Cocoa, Breezy & Richie Rich were amongst the crowd, and they even had a kick ass guitarist rock out to some of our fav top 40 hits while the models sashayed down the cat walk. Wooorrrrqqq!

The Ice Qream Man

Pharrell Williams is back with yet another dope business venture. Just last year, Williams teamed up with Moncler and created a sick outer wear collection that would have any dope-boy-fresh fashionisto wanting more and he even ventured into cosmetics collaborating with Kiehls.

This year, he signed on as creative director for Karmaloop TV and he also created his on vodka-based cream liqueur line -Qream with the same company (Diageo) that helped Diddy create Ciroc.

I know most of you are thinking every Artist has a liqueur line now-a-days, but it’s a great move! It’s lucrative & profitable. Just think about it, music & spirits go hand and hand. When your down and out, depressed and S.O.L -what do you do? You turn to your favorite artist to soothe you, and a nice stiff drink to move you! Cha-ching$$!! Another couple million to add to the bank.

The brilliant thing about the branding and marketing behind Qream is, he created this specifically for the Ladies. Every curve of the bottle exudes femininity, and the flavors remind me of every woman’s guilty pleasures…

 Peach -makes me think of a sexy dessert or a sexy fragrant lotion by Victorias Secret or Fresh.

Strawberry -reminds me of my favorite chocolate covered strawberries from Godiva on Valentines day.

In a recent interview with Elle.com, Pharrell stated:

 “I thought the market was lacking in drinks for women that make them comfortable about indulging. Every time you look at the television, it’s all Spanx and Bally Fitness. When I think of the women I’m aiming for, I think of Sarah Jessica Parker…a confident women that’s in the know, from the shoes to the news.”

Wet in the City

 Aguaclara Swimwear debuted their 2012 Collection last night, July 18 2011 at 6pm at the Cabana Grande of the Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach, for Mercedes-Benz fashion swim week.

 The collection featured suede, snakeskin, faux leather & animal print, in silhouettes to die for. The line knows and understands a womens’ body, and celebrates her curves!

Celebrities such as singer/actress Adrienne Bailon and singer/songwriter Ne-Yo were amongst the crowd of viewers, along with many fashion editors from elite swimsuit mags such as FHM & Sports Illustrated.

Colt Classic

Cat eyed shaped glasses have been making a staple in the world of fashion for decades on end. The 50’s and 60’s were an era in which these fab frames debuted… icons like Eartha Kitt, Audrey Hepburn & Marilyn Monroe rocked their cat eyes with pose and confidence, as you should!

Dior and Versace pay homage to the classic specs, while keeping them current with a futuristic twist.

Versace decided to go frame-less & staying somewhat simplistic in design, while Dior went into another direction; adding this seasons hautest colors to their frames.

My new obsessions are purples; from lavenders to plum and every shade in between.  From a makeup artists’ stand point colors are so meaningful they can change your entire mood and even enhance your eye color & complexion.

Spot Treatment

This coming Fall/Winter Men’s fashion is pushing the envelope like never before and I like it!

Companies like YSL & Pierre Hardy have upgraded our male counterparts and insist they take a walk on the wild side… you know, indulge in fashion the way we do!

I love to see a fashion forward man with balance and by balance, I mean; someone that knows his limits! For example, would you pair these kicks with a leopard print shirt or jacket? No. That would be abso-f*ckin-lutely absurd! 

Could you pair this with a crisp denim bottom & a white V-neck to keep it simple or to add a lil’ edge; a butter yellow or denim button-up ,a dope jean (don’t match the denim), black tie and you can even add a red pocket square to keep it funky?!

Whichever way you rock it, own it. There’s nothing sexier than a man with confidence & an ill shoe game!

SEX SELLS

Ad campaigns for shoes, fragrances and even appliances have to appeal to the masses by any means necessary!

With the economy at a stand still, stores closing and businesses folding marketing teams have to play dirty & get a little X-rated to keep generating revenue. So their weapon of choice: SEX. 

It makes perfect sense. The same way we lust after members of the opposite sex (or in some cases the same sex #NOH8), is the same way we crave and lust after materialistic things. Its our new animal instinct.

I, for one, love an edgy photo shoot and whenever I see a sexy Tom Ford ad, I have the urge to throw on my favorite Trey Songz tune and call a handsome suitor to entertain me; but that’s just me!

Moving on to my point, is there a limit or a point where Creative Directors take a step back and say, “we went too far!”? I mean some of these ads are ri-damn-diculous (no pun intended). There’s a guy whose eye is clearly an erect penis! Like, who thought of that?! Even my crazy perverted mind would NEVER go that far outside of the box, and I’m perfectly capable of jumping out the window.

The use of SEX as a marketing medium in many ways is an art form; a form of creativity and also entertainment. It can make us either utterly uncomfortable or blatantly narcissistic, depending on which side of the fence your on but either way these images have lots of shock value which I absolutely LOVE. SEX sells, and I’m buying, well… Kinda. :)

Robin Thicke Raps to Lil Wayne’s ‘A Milli’ (by RapUpTVLIVE)

Hold up…. I’m SPEECHLESS! Robin Thicke is definitely a vanilla latte, that we at Haute Coffee love served extra hott!!

Not only is he one of the coolest & most soulful white guys since Frank Sinatra & Justin Timberlake, but his music is super dope. His voice is lyrical sex on a platter and his style exudes confidence… I mean he is rapping to ‘A milli’ by Lil Wayne?! Did Eminem even do a cover to this??
