Pink Everyday!

OPI Partners with Platinum Recording Artist Nicki Minaj to Launch Limited Edition Lacquers

OPI announces the launch of six new limited edition shades inspired by hip hop sensation Nicki Minaj, including a purple Shatter!  Inspired by Minaj’s unique style, love of bright colors, and her debut album Pink Friday, the Nicki Minaj by OPI promotion will feature an array of bold hues, from neon lime green to pink.

“OPI is so excited to work with Nicki in releasing these six new nail lacquers,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “Nicki has taken the hip hop world by storm, but her music is only part of the equation. She’s also become a fashion inspiration, noted for her daring costumes and hair color both on and off the stage.”

Nicki’s eclectic look made including a new hue in OPI’s bestselling Shatter coat a must for this collaboration. The purple Super Bass Shatter(a record-setting purple that “shatters” before your eyes) is inspired by graffiti art and works when painted over any dry OPI hue. Adding top coat takes Super Bass Shatter from matte to glossy in seconds.

The line features five nail lacquers in addition to Super Bass Shatter, ranging from fantastic pink, rainbow confetti glitter and charcoal sparkle hues to two green shades in lime and teal:

Pink Friday
Kick off the weekend with this pop! of bubblegum pink.

Metallic 4 Life
This charcoal sparkle flies with the stars in the skies.

Save Me
I drove for miles just to find this silver-rainbow glitter.

Fly
I came to win, to fight…and to wear this aqua.

Did It On ‘Em
A lusty little lacquer that loves the “lime”-light.

Nicki Minaj by OPI nail lacquers contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application. This limited edition promotion will be available beginning January 2012 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for  $8.50 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

Terrell Owens:NFL/Reality Show star was slapped with ANOTHER lawsuit (by the same baby mama) for not paying his child support. Melanie Paige Smith, in a civil suit filed Aug. 9 in Fulton Superior Court, alleges Owens has not paid child support for the month of August and has said he does not plan to make future payments.

The football player was ordered in May 2007 to pay $5,000 per month, according to the suit, which estimated his monthly income at $666,000. Owens made June and July payments only after being threatened with legal action, the document states. The 37-year-old Alabama native, who holds or shares several NFL records, is currently a free agent. He last played for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010.

Smith and Owens have a 5-year-old daughter.

Single Ladies Cast - Enough Diversity??

I must re-visit the Single Ladies topic. Earlier I noted how wonderful it is to see black people portrayed in a positive light. I still stand by that. My only hang up is the lack in color diversity amongst the main female cast members.

So we have two white women (Charity Shea & Cassandra Clementi), a light-skinned black woman (Lisa-Raye) and a darker light-skinned woman (Stacey Dash). I’m going to go so far as to say it seems like there’s a brown paper bag rule for being in this clique (GASP; I said it).

Don’t get me wrong. I love all of them!! But, it would have been nice to see a Kelly Rowland type or Jill Marie Jones type (remember fiery Toni Childs from Girlfriends??) part of the main cast.

Obviously, casting crews carefully and meticulously choose what actors to cast in a show based off of many different factors (looks, acting ability, star power, etc.), but I wonder, just how much weight did the skin tone of the black women they selected carry…..Was the darker-skinned woman avoided or was it just by chance that only lighter skinned women made the cut for the main cast?

From our sisters at swagggirlicious:

After a much successful reality TV show, newly weds Toya and Memphitz have been appointed as the new faces of Ampro Pro Styl’s styling gel , Hip Hop Wired reports. The couple, who tied the knot this summer, will also be featured in the company’s global advertising campaigns.

Jack Sammons, President of Ampro Industries, said in a statement:

“At Ampro, we are impressed with Toya’s efforts to improve her life and the lives of those around her as documented on her reality television show, ‘Toya: A Family Affair,’ and in her inspiring book, Priceless Inspirations.

Similarly, we are proud of MeMpHiTz’ achievements. He’s a homegrown Memphis favorite who has become a success  in the music industry with both Jive Records & his own imprints Hitz Committee and Do Work Enterprises. We feel the path he has taken in his career is one which should be a model for young artists and encouraged on a national level.”

This is a great look for the both of them. Congrats

                 Paper Eye lashes?!

Inspired by the art of Chinese paper-cutting, Eyelashes blend an element of traditional culture with contemporary design.

Intricately cut and delicately pretty, Eyelashes

are now available in 11 styles, each infused with symbolic meaning rooted in Chinese culture:

        Peacock: auspicious and lucky days

        Horses: symbolic of success

Peony: for happiness and good fortune

Peach blossom: a symbol of love and romance

       Butterfly: free, beautiful and sensitive

       Clown: bring the whole happiness

Unique & expressive Eyelashes come in two sizes: accentuate the corners of your eyes with the smaller lashes for a subtle daytime look, or make a statement with the full lashes for a special occasion.

Not yet sold in the US, for this is a UK fan fav… visit one of my fav “Haute” site www.ASOS.com for your pair of Paper Lashes.

The Ice Qream Man

Pharrell Williams is back with yet another dope business venture. Just last year, Williams teamed up with Moncler and created a sick outer wear collection that would have any dope-boy-fresh fashionisto wanting more and he even ventured into cosmetics collaborating with Kiehls.

This year, he signed on as creative director for Karmaloop TV and he also created his on vodka-based cream liqueur line -Qream with the same company (Diageo) that helped Diddy create Ciroc.

I know most of you are thinking every Artist has a liqueur line now-a-days, but it’s a great move! It’s lucrative & profitable. Just think about it, music & spirits go hand and hand. When your down and out, depressed and S.O.L -what do you do? You turn to your favorite artist to soothe you, and a nice stiff drink to move you! Cha-ching$$!! Another couple million to add to the bank.

The brilliant thing about the branding and marketing behind Qream is, he created this specifically for the Ladies. Every curve of the bottle exudes femininity, and the flavors remind me of every woman’s guilty pleasures…

Peach -makes me think of a sexy dessert or a sexy fragrant lotion by Victorias Secret or Fresh.

Strawberry -reminds me of my favorite chocolate covered strawberries from Godiva on Valentines day.

In a recent interview with Elle.com, Pharrell stated:

“I thought the market was lacking in drinks for women that make them comfortable about indulging. Every time you look at the television, it’s all Spanx and Bally Fitness. When I think of the women I’m aiming for, I think of Sarah Jessica Parker…a confident women that’s in the know, from the shoes to the news.”

I have to personally hit Mr. Williams up to create a signature “Haute Coffee & Qream” cocktail!

Ummm, that made my mouth water just typing that!

Colt Classic

Cat eyed shaped glasses have been making a staple in the world of fashion for decades on end. The 50’s and 60’s were an era in which these fab frames debuted… icons like Eartha Kitt, Audrey Hepburn & Marilyn Monroe rocked their cat eyes with pose and confidence, as you should!

Dior and Versace pay homage to the classic specs, while keeping them current with a futuristic twist.

Versace decided to go frame-less & staying somewhat simplistic in design, while Dior went into another direction; adding this seasons hautest colors to their frames.

Both pair are a Haute Coffee fav! I give this shades 5 stars and a meow!:)
